Rabbi Saul Kassin

Rabbi Saul J. Kassin attended Magen David Yeshivah Elementary School, and Flatbush High School, before studying for three years in Israel, including at the famed Yeshivat Porat Yosef in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Rabbi Kassin learned under and received his Semichah from some of the leading Poskim of our generation, including: Hacham Ovadia Yosef A”H, Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu A”H, Rabbi Shalom Mashash A”H, Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi Doron, Rabbi Shalom Cohen, and his grandfather, Rabbi Saul J Kassin, Shlita, as well as from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Rabbi Kassin continued his studies in the states for several years after, including at the Sephardic Torah Center headed by Rabbi Shlomo Diamond, in Deal, while he attended Touro College in Brooklyn. Additionally, Rabbi Kassin learned under Hacham Shimon Alouf and credits him with a lot of his personal growth as a Rabbinical leader of our community.

Rabbi Kassin comes from an extremely long line of great Rabbinic leaders tracing all the way back to 1492 in Spain. His great grandfather was Hacham Yaakov Kassin A”H who was the Chief Rabbi of the syrian community, and his grandfather, Rabbi Shaul Kassin, who follows in his footsteps, may he live and be well.

Carrying the traditions of his family, Rabbi Kassin became the Rosh Yeshiva of Hillel Yeshivah in 2008, and in 2014, became the senior Rabbi of Congregation Magen David of West Deal, after years of serving under its spiritual leader Rabbi Ezra Labaton A’H.

Rabbi Kassin and his wife Rachel (nee Tawil), married in 1998, have eight children, and currently live in Deal N.J.
